Breguet Tradition Automatique 7097 Review

Some watches posses qualities that goes beyond the normal definition of a watch. Some are in fact a masterpiece of art. The Breguet tradition Automatique 7097 is one of these watches:

Launched in 2015 the new Breguet Tradition 7097 combines the visual structure of the previous module with a self-winding movement, caliber 505SR1, with 50 hours of power reserve.

The movement has been reversed so what you see on the dial is the living movement of the watch.

On the top left you see the retrograde seconds. A very nice visual addition and a clever way to use the layout where the previous models displayed the power reserve.

At 40mm the watch is still very legible. Previous versions at 37mm were more difficult to read (especially considering that the time is displayed on the top part of the watch).

Despite the layout the readability is excellent. The rose gold version is simply stunning, classical and has some tech industrial vibes -- particularly in the finish.

The back is also spectacular: the rotor (black polish, mirror finishing) is inspired from an early Breguet pocket watch

We feel that this watch is sophisticated and contemporary at the same time. The finish is certainly innovative but not over the top. The movement is just spectacular and can be admired by both the front and back sapphire glasses. As you can see in this photo the glass is slightly raised creating a vintage effect.

In conclusion we feel that this watch is a true piece of art. The automatic movement is very convenient. Certainly a watch for CEOs and not one that goes unnoticed.
